3 Tips for Staying Safe When Selling on 4Sale

Selling anything on 4Sale means you don’t have to go through the hassle of trying to find buyers yourself. You just take some pictures of whatever it is you’re selling, create a listing, and let the buyers come to you.

Despite the convenience of using 4Sale —and online marketplaces in general, there are a few things you need to keep in mind to ensure your safety. After all, you’re dealing with strangers so, being extra cautious is the right thing to do.

The following tips will help you enjoy the convenience of selling via 4Sale, and keep you safe throughout the entire process.

1. Discuss all payment-related details beforehand

Before you go and meet the buyer, make sure to discuss everything related to payment. This includes how much and how they’ll pay. Sorting out all the payment details before proceeding with selling the item will make the process smoother, and will help you avoid unpleasant surprises.

If you’re meeting with the buyer in person, make sure to tell them if you want to be paid in cash, or via another payment method (like a payment link from your bank). If you and the buyer agree to have the item delivered, you should ensure that payment is made beforehand (either a partial deposit or in full).

2. Don’t give any personal details

People don’t need to know where you live to buy something from you. Things like your social media accounts, email address, and physical address should never be shared with strangers.

All they need to know is your first name and a number they can contact you on. If they insist on knowing more personal information, this should raise some concerns. Remember, you are in control when it comes to what information you share with potential buyers.

3. Bring a friend

If you’re selling an expensive item or don’t feel good about meeting a particular buyer, it’s a good idea to bring a friend with you. If something is wrong, you’ll want to have someone you trust with you.

Also, keep the meeting somewhere public with lots of people. A food court in a mall, a coffee shop, busy parking lots —or even banks for really expensive items— are all good meeting spots.
